Improvements

  • New "Add" menu
    • Reason: new people arriving want to create stuff (the create options are less visible in their current position)
    • Solution: have a general "Add" menu
  • Wiki/Space/Page separation
    • Reason: have a complete hierarchy of page location and actions
    • Solution: Adding a visual sign between wiki|space in the global menu to imply hierarchy
    • Consequence: Current action menus separation: (Wiki/Space/Page | User | Content) actions
  • New "Delete" Space entry
    • Status: already discussed
    • Solution: added under Space menu entry (can be extended to include also Rename, etc.)
    • Consequence: Page delete action should be near / similar (moved also with "Copy" and "Rename")
  • Better Wiki/Space naming representation
    • Problem: database naming of Wiki/Space menus are really difficult to understand for a new user or to document
    • Solution: WIKI: Wikiname, explicitly state the representation type of the name
  • Uppercase usage
    • Reason: "MySuperSpace" looks like "MYSPECIALSPACE"
    • Solution: WIKI: Wikiname (have user entered data unaltered, like space/page names, user names) and use uppercase only for top menu entries
    • Limitations: Colibri skin uses uppercase for form labels, panel titles, buttons, action menu; so we use uppercase for separation or to put emphasis on functionality. Thus, uppercase can't be totally removed from action menus, but we could adjust it to be used just for labeling and separation of menu items
  • "Type: Name" pattern
    • Usage:
      • "Wiki: xwiki"; "Space: Main"; "Page: WebHome"
      • "Profile: Administrator"
      • "Edit: Wiki"; "Editing: WebHome"
