The newsletter could be a monthly digest that would focus on:

• Releases
• Contributions from the community
• Important changes/additions to the website
• Events
• News

I think the support panel is a very good idea, however I'm not sure about the anchor text ("Contact the makers of XWiki") + image choice. As I see it the whole community are the makers of XWiki and the text doesn't necessarily say that. If you corroborate the message with the image you might reach the conclusion XWiki SAS are the makers, which might arise some debates.

Under the support panel, we could have:

• The Twitter panel
• A link under the Twitter panel to "More XWiki on the web"
• A link or a box that would encourage users to subscribe to the XWiki.org newsletter (in which case we would also need a newsletter)
• The Blog panel displaying the recent articles.

I have troubles seeing how the integrated bar & filters should work and scale:

• the "Narrow annotations by clicking an annotator's name" acts on the annotation icons or on the annotation highlights? Please note that the current implementation has only one checkbox for the display or hiding of annotations (with icon and highlight), for the reason we discussed both on mail and in private discussion.
  • if it works on highlights, will highlight be checked automatically when one clicks an annotator name? (meaning that yes, highlights are visible but they are filtered)
  • if it works on icons, then shouldn't they all (the annotator names) be highlighted as "visible" when all icons are visible?

For this issue, I'd go with an approach for the functionality as it's designed for the non-integrated bar, meaning that when the checkbox is checked they're all visible and the authors are all checked (because all annotations are visible). When user unchecks some of the authors, the annotations are updated accordingly. However, to scale, this needs some "none" and "all" buttons, for the case when the authors are many.

• if there are many more authors, how does that panel scale? it's a 3 column panel and I'd say columns can get pretty narrow
• if a new filter is to be custom added, which is an intended feature for the annotations and very very likely to happen (since the annotations can have custom fields added one would like to filter by them) how would that filter integrate in this panel? Would it need to be completely redesigned?

I'm +1 for a dedicated xwiki.org Twitter account. The account could serve both the purpose of a communication channel and helping our existing and potential users find their way around XWiki.org: 

As a communication channel the account could be used to broadcast:

• XWiki releases and news
• XWiki events that the community may take an interest in
• XWiki.org blog posts
• Tips about using XWiki
• The latest XWiki contributions
• OS events and news

Answering questions and approaching potential users:

• The go to place for existing and potential users that are not inclined to use the lists to address questions about XWiki.
• Follow back people that are following our company account.
• Attract new users/potential clients by introducing them to XWiki. These are people already searching for a wiki, asking for recommendations on Twitter.
